       Ministry of Science and Technology by the Office of Atoms for peace (OAP) in cooperation with Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology hosted the ASEAN Nuclear Youth Camp 2017 which was held during 27 – 30 June 2017 at The National Science Museum, Pathumthani, Thailand under the framework of the ASEAN cooperation for the development of science and technology project to creating the scientific community among the new generation in ASEAN countries.

      Dr. Atchara Wongsaengchan, OAP secretary General, declared the ASEAN Nuclear Youth Camp 2017 was completed with a fruitful outcome by providing an unique opportunity to 31 participants from the high school students and teacher from ASEAN countries to show their creative talents during the participation in the camp through the group activities, brain storming and presentation. The ASEAN Nuclear Youth Camp 2017 also aimed to enhance the learning society and increase the interest in nuclear science and technology among the new generations in ASEAN countries. The participants engaged in a number of experience-sharing sessions, attended lectures by an expert from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and experienced lecturers from OAP and TINT. Furthermore, all participants had a chance to visit OAP laboratories, and the research reactor at TINT. The activities at the camp could expand their knowledge and more understanding on nuclear technology and the peaceful use of nuclear applications.

       In addition, Dr. Atchara participated in the Meeting on Supporting Sustainability and Networking of National Nuclear Institutions in Asia and the Pacific Region which was held
on 28 June 2017 as a parallel session to discuss with the delegates from relevant organizations such as International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT), National Science Museum (NSM), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and Chulalongkorn University (CU). The meeting picked up a momentum to support capacity building on sustainable development and strengthening the network of National Nuclear Institutions in Asia and the Pacific Region.
