Thailand by the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) organized the workshop on Reactor Site Application Reviews in Bangkok, Thailand during 18 – 21 April 2017. This workshop is under the International Regulation Development Partnership Project (IRDP) which is one of cooperation between the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) and OAP.

Mr. Pongkrit Siripirom, Director, Bureau of Nuclear Safety Regulation, on behalf of the OAP Secretary General said that it is a great opportunity for the workshop participants, from Suranaree University of Technology, Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT), and OAP, to learn about the important aspects of nuclear site application reviews from the experienced instructors. Since the nuclear safety, security, and safeguards, are became a global issues which is a big challenge for us about the siting for nuclear facilities. This workshop is aimed to provide the participants with more understanding on site application review by the USNRC methods and tools, including understand relative safety risks of site hazards. In addition, the further workshop will be held in next few months in a topic of Reactor Construction Permit Application Reviews since Thailand is going to have a new research reactors, one at Suranaree University of Technology which is planned to start operating in possibly 2020, and one another will be located at Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT).
