Moving Beyond Old Concepts: OAP Empowers Thai Teachers with Accurate Nuclear Knowledge

OAP is advancing efforts to promote knowledge of nuclear energy and radiation among educational personnel through the “Nuclear Knowledge Boost: Thai Teachers and the Nuclear Science Creativity” project. The first session of this initiative took place on February 26, 2025, in Songkhla Province.

This project aims to reshape perceptions and enhance accurate understanding of nuclear energy and radiation, which remain widely misunderstood topics. Teachers, lecturers, and educational personnel participating in the program will receive accurate information from experts, enabling them to pass on this knowledge to young learners. The initiative seeks to lay the groundwork for Thai society to be more receptive to nuclear technology, which plays a crucial role in the future, while also fostering knowledge exchange and discussions between educators and leading scientists.

Beyond knowledge dissemination, the project also focuses on building a network of nuclear energy-affiliated teachers to facilitate continuous development and experience sharing. It aims to modernize teaching methods and enhance the ability to effectively and safely educate young people about nuclear energy.

OAP plans to organize four additional sessions of this project in Chiangmai, Ratchaburi, Nakhonsithammarat, and Udonthani. The goal is to ensure comprehensive training for target groups and to establish a robust network of nuclear science educators. This initiative will continue in the coming years until it reaches nationwide coverage.
