On July 31, 2025, the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, hosted and held discussions with executives from the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) at the Beta Meeting Room, 5th Floor, 60th Anniversary Building. The meeting was chaired by the Acting Secretary-General of OAP and attended by the Deputy Secretary-General and relevant executives and staff.
The JAEA delegation was led by Ms. IKUTA Yuko, Deputy Director of the Nuclear Human Resource Development Center (NUHIRDeC), and Mr. OHKURA Takehisa, General Manager of the International Nuclear HRD Section. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange information and operational approaches on nuclear human resource development under the Instructor Training Program (ITP).
The ITP is a collaborative program between JAEA and Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). It focuses on sustainable development of nuclear personnel in Japan’s partner countries through the transfer of knowledge, technology, and experience, while also promoting international cooperation networks.
The discussion aimed to foster mutual understanding and effective future collaboration, particularly in supporting OAP personnel to participate in ITP activities. Such participation is expected to enhance the expertise and skills of Thai personnel to meet international standards.
This collaboration marks another key milestone in strengthening human resource capacity in Thailand’s nuclear energy sector and underscores the shared commitment of both countries to the safe, sustainable, and socially and environmentally responsible use of nuclear technology.
