OAP Strengthens Readiness with Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Response Training

The Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, organized a nuclear and radiological emergency response training and full-scale exercise from 18–21 August 2025 at OAP headquarters and Mida De Sea Hotel, Hua Hin, Phetchaburi.

Over 60 OAP staff participated to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and use of radiation measurement tools. The program included theory (radiation basics, safety, CPR, AED use, emergency center operations) and practical simulations (protective suits, decontamination, handling lost/damaged radioactive materials, radiation surveys by foot, vehicle, drone, and environmental monitoring).

Key highlights were Table Top Exercises (TTX) and Field Training Exercises (FTX) to test real emergency response capacity.

The training aimed to enhance staff readiness, teamwork, and confidence while boosting Thailand’s nuclear and radiological safety and security, reassuring the public of national preparedness in emergencies.
