Thailand Advances Nuclear Cooperation and Safety Initiatives at 69th IAEA General Conference

               
              Thailand, through the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), together with experts from leading medical, nuclear, and environmental institutions and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 69th IAEA General Conference held from 15–19 September 2025 at the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna, Austria.


The Thai delegation engaged in several high-level bilateral meetings alongside the conference, including:

                Discussions with the IAEA Division of Asia and the Pacific on 10 national projects covering public health, food and agriculture security, safety and security, and industry.

                 A meeting with INTERPOL to strengthen nuclear security infrastructure through advanced training and international cooperation.

                 Talks with the IAEA Division of Nuclear Security on establishing an IAEA Collaborating Center in Thailand for nuclear security.

                 A bilateral meeting with Malaysia’s regulatory authority to enhance ASEAN regional cooperation on radiation safety oversight.

                 In addition, Thailand advanced collaboration with the IAEA’s Radiation Emergency Centre and radiation safety laboratories, aiming to improve emergency response, worker protection, monitoring, training, and technical support. These efforts are expected to enhance nuclear and radiation safety, protect public health, and promote sustainable national development.
