The Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), under Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, held a seminar on integrated nuclear and radiation safety regulation from September 24–26, 2025, in Hua Hin, Phetchaburi. The event, led by OAP Deputy Secretary-General Pennapa Kanchana, aimed to enhance understanding of laws and regulations under the Nuclear Energy for Peace Act B.E. 2559 (2016) and its amendments. Seventy relevant OAP personnel attended the seminar, which addressed ongoing regulatory challenges such as radiation safety officer requirements, instrument calibration, personal dosimeter use, legal communication, and interpretation of regulatory authority.
Pen napa stated that the seminar was a crucial platform for integrating internal perspectives to develop effective and consistent safety oversight. It also aimed to build confidence among stakeholders and improve legal enforcement in alignment with the Act’s intent, ultimately enhancing nuclear and radiation safety in Thailand for public and environmental protection.
