Thailand Participates in APSN-IAEA Seminar on Additional Protocol Implementation in Australia

The Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), participated in the Asia-Pacific Safeguards Network – International Atomic Energy Agency (APSN-IAEA) Seminar on Additional Protocol Implementation held in Perth, Australia, from November 6–7, 2025. The seminar was jointly organized by the Australian Safeguards and Non-Proliferation Office (ASNO) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to enhance the knowledge, understanding, and capacity of member countries in implementing nuclear safeguards effectively, transparently, and in accordance with international obligations.

The seminar focused on the implementation of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement (CSA) and the Additional Protocol (AP), including communication and awareness strategies for relevant agencies, preparation of reports to the IAEA, and practical exercises on domestic inspection procedures. These activities aim to strengthen the capacity of national officers in regulatory oversight and accurate reporting in line with international standards.

Thailand’s participation highlights OAP’s proactive role under MHESI in advancing regional cooperation on nuclear safety and safeguards—an important mechanism for reinforcing nuclear security, safety, and global confidence in Thailand’s commitment to the peaceful and transparent use of nuclear energy.
