On June 22 ,2026, Dr. Rungrueng Kitphati, Secretary General of the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), assigned Mr. Vithit Pungkun, Director of National Institute of Nuclear and Radiation Reference Standards Laboratory: NIRRS, to preside over the opening ceremony of the workshop entitled “Expert Mission on Strengthening Reference Laboratory Capacity and Environmental Radiation Monitoring for Regulatory Support and Nuclear/Radiological Emergency Preparedness in Thailand,” held from 22–26 June 2026 at the Gamma Conference Room, OAP 60th Anniversary Building.
The workshop brought together 19 participants and aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices in the development of nuclear and radiation reference laboratories. It also sought to strengthen environmental radiation monitoring capabilities to support nuclear and radiation safety regulation and enhance Thailand’s preparedness and response capacity for nuclear and radiological emergencies.
