Thailand Reaffirms Its Commitment to Banning Nuclear Testing and Nuclear Weapons, While Promoting Nuclear Technology for Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Systems, Healthcare, Energy, and Industrial Development

Dr. Rungrueng Kitphati, Secretary General of the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), together with Dr. Kitkawin Aramrun, Director of Strategy and Planning Division, and Dr. Yutthana Tumnoi, Expert on Atomic Energy, represented the Office of Atoms for Peace, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), at the 66th Session of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission, held in Vienna, Republic of Austria, from 15–17 June 2026. During the session, Thailand delivered a national statement reaffirming its  commitment and proactive role in supporting the mission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). Thailand also reiterated its continued support for international efforts to advance the shared goal of a world free from nuclear weapon testing and to strengthen global peace, security, and nuclear non-proliferation.
