Dr. Rungrueng Promotes the Vision of Small Modular Reactors to Enhance Thailand’s Energy Security and Drive the Future of Clean Nuclear Technology

On August 3, 2026, the Ministry of Energy, in collaboration with the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) ; the Department of Nuclear Engineering, Chulalongkorn University ; the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization) (TINT) ; and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), organized the third public awareness and capacity-building workshop on the development of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) power plant projects for Provincial Energy Offices nationwide. Held during 3–4 August 2026 at Centara Udon Hotel, Udon Thani Province, the workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of provincial energy officials to effectively communicate accurate and reliable information on SMR technology to local communities. The initiative forms part of a nationwide program comprising four regional workshops designed to cover all regions of Thailand.
