The Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), is advancing efforts to strengthen Thailand’s and ASEAN’s capacity to respond effectively to nuclear and radiological emergencies. A key focus is the importance of fast, accurate, and unified communication as a cornerstone of public confidence, while enhancing regional preparedness for emerging nuclear technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), and preparing Thailand to assume the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Network of Regulatory Bodies on Atomic Energy (ASEANTOM) in 2028.In collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the ASEAN Network of Regulatory Bodies on Atomic Energy (ASEANTOM), OAP organized the regional training course entitled “Regional Training Course on Effective Communication during a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency” in Pattaya, Chon Buri Province.The training aimed to strengthen regional capabilities in communication and coordination during nuclear or radiological emergencies, promoting a coordinated regional response under the concept of “One ASEAN, One Response, One Voice.”
