OAP Welcomes CTBTO Executive Secretary to Strengthen Nuclear-Test Monitoring and Advance Thailand as a Regional Hub for International Training and Technology Transfer

On July 15, 2026, Dr. Rungrueng Kitphati, Secretary General of the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), together with OAP executives, welcomed Dr. Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), during his official visit to Thailand. The meeting focused on enhancing Thailand’s role in the Asia–Pacific region in advancing the use of CTBTO data and technologies for earthquake and tsunami early warning, environmental radioactivity monitoring, and the tracking of radioactive releases. The discussions also covered continued cooperation in supporting the implementation of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and contributing to the international community’s shared goal of ending nuclear test explosions, thereby strengthening global peace and international security.
