On July 17, 2026, Dr. Rutjapan Kateklum, Director of Regulatory Technical Support Division, Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), together with Dr. Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), visited PS41, a seismic monitoring station located at the Chiang Mai Seismic Station and operated by the Hydrographic Department. The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Boonlue Thammathoranurak, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, and local officials. The visit provided an opportunity to observe the station’s operations and learn about its role as one of the monitoring facilities within the International Monitoring System (IMS) established under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The station plays a vital role in detecting and monitoring nuclear test explosions worldwide.
