Dr. Rungreung Kitphati, Director-General of the Department of Science Service and Acting Secretary-General of the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), along with the OAP’s Emergency Operations Center for Nuclear and Radiological Incidents, participated in the press conference and launch of the training workshop project on “Monitoring Water Situations to Address Drought and Flood Disasters” on May 14, 2025.
The event was presided over by Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), with senior ministry officials including Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary, and Dr. Roiboon Rasmitej, Director of the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII), among others.
The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration among academic and government agencies for sustainable water management and to enhance disaster preparedness using real-time technology and in-depth data. The training was organized by the Hydro-Informatics Institute in Bangkok.
Dr. Rungreung emphasized OAP’s full support in tackling climate-related challenges and increasing disaster risks, stating that technology and data are key to timely protection of the public.
