Ms. Ampika Apichaibukul, OAP Deputy Secretary General, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop on the “Review of Nuclear Installation Siting Regulations,” held from 9–11 June 2026 at Mida Resort Kanchanaburi, Kanchanaburi Province.  The workshop brought together more than 38 executives, experts, and representatives from relevant organizations to collaboratively review and enhance the regulatory framework governing the licensing of nuclear installation sites. The initiative aims to ensure that Thailand’s regulatory system is well prepared to accommodate the deployment of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, one of the clean energy technologies that has attracted growing interest worldwide. The discussions focused on aligning national regulations with international standards and best practices, while strengthening the country’s readiness to support the safe, secure, and sustainable development of future nuclear energy technologies.
