The 66th Session of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission, held in Vienna, Republic of Austria, from 15–17 June 2026, a significant milestone for the global nuclear community, Thailand’s engagement represented more than an active contribution as a committed member of the international community dedicated to maintaining peace and security. It also provided an important opportunity to honor and commemorate the far-sighted vision of the Thai Monarchy, which has laid the foundations for the country’s peaceful nuclear development and national efforts in support of international peace over several decades. At the same time, Thailand is moving forward into a new era of clean energy through Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, alongside close cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Under the leadership and policy direction of Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and with the efforts of Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and Dr. Rungrueng Kitphati, Secretary General of the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), Thailand is accelerating its efforts to strengthen energy security and advance the well-being and prosperity of the Thai people.
