OAP Enhances Regulatory Oversight through IAEA’s IRRS

The Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) is hosting a delegation of international experts and officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), totaling 18 members, from February 2 to 14, 2025. This visit is a culmination of the Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) Mission to Thailand, aimed at assessing and reviewing Thailand’s nuclear and radiation regulatory system against IAEA Safety Standards.

This mission will help the OAP identify strengths and weaknesses in the country’s nuclear and radiation safety regulatory framework, based on IAEA standards, through the perspectives of experts with extensive knowledge and experience in this field from various countries.

The OAP plans to use the findings from this IRRS mission to further strengthen Thailand’s regulatory system, ensuring the highest level of safety in the utilization of nuclear and radiation technologies. This will benefit workers, the public, and the environment, while aligning with international principles.
