OAP Collaborates with IAEA to Enhance Nuclear and Radiation Security in Thailand

OAP is advancing Thailand’s nuclear and radiation security by organizing the National Workshop on the International Physical Protection Advisory Service (IPPAS) from February 4 to 7, 2025. Over 40 participants from security agencies are attending the workshop, which is supported by five international experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Ms. Pennapa Kanchana, OAP Deputy Secretary-General and Acting Secretary General, stated, “This training is an important step in enhancing Thailand’s ability to oversee nuclear and radiation safety, ensuring greater security and safety while preparing to address potential threats and incidents that could impact nuclear security in the future.” She also emphasized that this initiative marks a significant development in the country’s framework for assessing the security of nuclear and radioactive materials, focusing on the review and evaluation of physical protection measures at facilities, during transportation, and in the context of cybersecurity, all to strengthen the effectiveness of regulatory systems.
