From Routine to Research: OAP Empowers Staff through R2R Workshop

Dr. Rungreung Kitphati, Director-General of the Department of Science Service and Acting Secretary-General of the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), is advancing Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi’s policy by promoting the “Routine to Research (R2R)” initiative. This strategy aims to enhance personnel capabilities by transforming routine tasks into research, thereby improving efficiency and supporting sustainable knowledge in the nuclear and radiation fields.

As part of this effort, a workshop titled “Enhancing Research from Routine Work to Support Nuclear and Radiation Regulatory Oversight” was held from May 29–31, 2025, at Maikaew Damnoen Resort, Ratchaburi. The event followed a previous session in March and focused on applying R2R concepts to regulatory tasks.

The workshop was attended by over 40 OAP officers and featured expert Dr. Jarongsak Pumnuan from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, who shared R2R methodologies and practical applications. The training covered analytical thinking, designing research from routine work, proposal writing, and fostering inter-agency collaboration. The initiative is seen as a key foundation for sustainably advancing Thailand’s nuclear and radiation regulatory workforce and capabilities.
